We have been able to try out Time 4 Learning for the last 30 days. This program offers homeschoolers (and more) an online curriculum, lesson planning help and even parent reports on the progress and mastery levels for each of their children. I found these elements to be extremely helpful. We all know how challenging it can be working with multi-age students and having a tool that allowed me to see what each child had been working on and how well they were performing on each lesson's quizzes helped me identify areas that needed more attention, without affecting the progress of my other two children's lessons.
We focused primarily on the Language Arts sections of T4L as this was an area that was in need of some variety in our curriculum. The videos and illustrations were wonderful at conveying the concepts being taught. I thought this subject area was one of the best we've seen.
We also tried the science section, and I was a bit disappointed that this area didn't have the same zest that as the LA section. This was mostly page by page reading, followed by a quiz and a subsequent experiment. This was very informative, but for our family, it wasn't quite the fit we were looking for.
Overall, I think the program is very well laid out. The lessons are well organized and students can easily progress from one lesson to the next independently. I found the parent side of the program to be exceptional. The scope and sequence available, the section to help with lesson planning and the student reports were incredible features.
For anyone looking for a way for their students to work more independently, and still allow you as the parent to be right on top of their progress, check out Time4Learning.com and see what you think.
